Top Notch Triathlon - Saturday Aug 1, 2009
Hosted by: Franconia Parks & Recreation
The Triathlon will attract bikers, hikers and swimmers from all over New England. Bikers, hikers and swimmers are encouraged to register. The triathlon will begin in Franconia, NH. Bikers will ride along 3 miles of paved road before embarking on a wooded uphill trail climb to the top of Franconia Notch. The next leg will be a plunge into pristine Echo Lake (average August water temp: 65?) for a brisk swim. The last leg will be for hikers who will climb up the ski trails of Cannon Mountain. The vertical rise from lake to the summit will be 2,280 feet. The grand total vertical climb from start to finish will be a phenomenal 3320 feet.
